How to move your website and domain from your current provider – with as little downtime as possible if you follow the order.

For new customers on web hosting with monthly payment, once per customer. Afterwards from €2.99 / month, no VAT shown (§ 19 UStG), cancellable at the end of any month. Add-ons and domains are charged as normal.
Step by step
1. Back up your files
Download all files of your website from your current provider via (S)FTP or the file manager – usually the folder “htdocs”, “public_html” or “www”.
2. Export the database
If your website uses a database (e.g. WordPress), export it as an .sql file – usually via phpMyAdmin or your provider's customer menu.
3. Import at Hoster.gg
In the customer portal: upload files via the file manager or SFTP, create a database and import the .sql file. For WordPress, then adjust the access details in wp-config.php.
4. Test beforehand
Check the website before switching the domain – e.g. via your web space's preview address.
5. Transfer or repoint the domain
Transfer the domain: request the auth code from the old provider and choose “Transfer” with us. Domain stays elsewhere: point the A record to your web space's IP.
6. Only then cancel
Only cancel the old contract once everything works and the domain has been transferred – otherwise the domain can be lost.

WordPress, Joomla, PrestaShop? That works automatically
With the website migration in your web space (Portal → Web hosting → Website migration) you only enter the FTP or SFTP access details of your current provider – or upload a small migration helper yourself. We fetch files and database, enter the new database access and update the address. The old website stays online until you switch the domain.
